UK Vaping Products Duty

UK Vaping Duty: The Deadline is Set

From 1 October 2026, every vaping product sold in the UK needs a duty stamp and £2.20 duty per 10ml. Brand owners, manufacturers, importers, and bonded warehouse operators that aren't ready won't be able to sell legally.

The timeline

Dates that define your compliance window

  • DISPOSABLES BAN

    1 June 2025

Single-use disposable vapes can no longer be sold or supplied anywhere in the UK. Only rechargeable, refillable products stay on the shelves.

  • DUTY STAMP DEADLINE

    1 October 2026

Duty kicks in at £2.20 per 10ml, and products entering the UK market need a duty stamp. This is your window to build up stamped stock.

  • FULL STAMP ENFORCEMENT

    1 April 2027

Every product outside duty suspension has to carry a valid stamp. Track & Trace reporting is live across the chain, and non-compliance now means civil and criminal penalties.

Five Moves to Get Ready Without Surprises

The five moves that take the risk out of the transition. Full timings, volumes, and requirements are in the PDF.

  1. HMRC registration: which approvals you need, and when to start
  2. Duty stamp strategy: where stamps go on, and who has to be approved
  3. Stock bridge: how much stamped product you need in transit, and by when
  4. Track & Trace: what must be live and tested before enforcement
  5. Audit readiness: the evidence HMRC expects to see, and by what date
