- Cooperation around platforms for cross-enterprise collaboration solutions
Markant, a retail and service group, and osapiens, the leading software platform for sustainable growth , are expanding their cooperation. Both companies provide highly relevant solutions for cross-company collaboration to the retail and consumer goods industry on their platforms: from product content management, electronic business data exchange, traceability and proof of origin of products to AI-based solutions for compliance with sustainability and product compliance requirements, the partners offer valuable digital collaboration solutions to the consumer goods industry.
As part of the collaboration, osapiens will take over the BYRD Health division of the Markant subsidiary BAYARD. BAYARD already entered into a strategic partnership with osapiens for its healthcare business area in February 2024. Suppliers and purchasing organisations in the medical technology sector worldwide can now use the established BYRD solutions for product content management and compliance management at a high level from a single source. The proven technology and the existing team will be retained and even expanded. Through integration with osapiens, the BYRD Health service offering will be broadened to include additional solutions, enabling companies to efficiently and sustainably meet regulatory requirements – while continuing to provide the well-established portfolio of UDI compliance services.
This acquisition strengthens osapiens’ position in the medical device industry by bringing BYRD Health, one of the leading Medical Device & Product Master Data Management providers for UDI Regulations (EUDAMED, GUDID, TGA) and GDSN solutions, into the rapidly growing base of over 1,700 osapiens customers. The acquisition positions BYRD Health for further growth by providing additional financing for product development, marketing, and overall expansion. The continued partnership with BAYARD GmbH ensures a seamless experience for all existing customers, as the use of BAYARD platforms will continue. The new osapiens division, osapiens for Medical Devices (BYRD Health), will be at the core of the current osapiens healthcare business unit, which already works with hundreds of hospitals and pharmaceutical companies worldwide.
osapiens has the strength to cope with the considerable growth of the segment outside Europe as well. Last but not least, osapiens’ latest financing round of USD 120 million from Goldman Sachs will help to meet the healthcare industry’s rapidly growing demand for product content management and UDI compliance services.
With its BYRD solution, BAYARD has been driving the digital transformation of the industry in Germany from the very beginning as a technology partner of the HCDP industry initiative of the German purchasing associations of hospital operators and has helped to establish data standardisation in the healthcare sector. Up-to-date, high-quality product content is a prerequisite for the digitalisation of numerous hospital processes. In future, the Markant subsidiary BAYARD will focus entirely on product content management for retailers and their suppliers in Europe.
