Frequently asked questions
The EU Taxonomy is a classification system that defines which economic activities count as environmentally sustainable. It sets criteria for when an activity makes a substantial contribution to one of six environmental objectives – such as climate change mitigation or adaptation – while doing no significant harm to the others and meeting minimum social safeguards. In practice, it gives companies and investors a common language for what qualifies as "green".
The EU Taxonomy applies to companies in scope of the CSRD - those with more than 1,000 employees and net turnover exceeding €450 million - as well as financial market participants. Affected companies must disclose how much of their turnover, CapEx and OpEx is associated with taxonomy-eligible and taxonomy-aligned activities. Following the Omnibus simplification package, a materiality threshold has been introduced, meaning certain activities below defined thresholds may be exempt from full assessment. Because scope and requirements continue to evolve, it's worth confirming your specific obligations against the current rules.
Companies report two things for each relevant activity: whether it is taxonomy-eligible (covered by the Taxonomy at all) and whether it is taxonomy-aligned (actually meets the technical screening criteria, DNSH requirements and minimum safeguards). This is expressed as the share of turnover, CapEx and OpEx that is eligible and aligned. The core taxonomy KPIs disclosed alongside your wider sustainability report.
It brings eligibility screening, alignment assessment and KPI calculation into one guided workflow. AI-assisted screening helps you identify which activities apply, structured questionnaires translate the technical criteria into clear steps, and your turnover, CapEx and OpEx KPIs are calculated and consolidated automatically – so a complex, judgement-heavy process becomes consistent and repeatable.
Every eligibility and alignment decision is logged automatically as you work, with the evidence and reasoning behind each judgement. When an auditor asks how you arrived at a figure, the answer is already documented.
