The regulatory landscape for human rights and environmental due diligence in Europe continues to evolve. While discussions around the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (LkSG) have created uncertainty regarding future enforcement and reporting obligations, the broader European framework — particularly the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) — signals a clear direction: corporate due diligence remains a central pillar of EU sustainability regulation.
In this legal update webinar, we provide a structured overview of the current developments surrounding LkSG and explain how these relate to the forthcoming CSDDD requirements at EU level. We will clarify what has changed, what remains relevant, and what companies should realistically expect in the coming years.
Importantly, we will discuss why it may not be strategically advisable to dismantle existing due diligence processes — even if formal national compliance requirements are adjusted. Established risk management systems, supplier transparency mechanisms and grievance procedures not only reduce legal exposure but also prepare organisations for upcoming EU-wide obligations and stakeholder expectations.
The session will conclude with practical guidance on how companies can safeguard their investments in due diligence structures, align them with emerging EU standards and ensure long-term regulatory resilience.
