About Me

Anja Kohl is the female head of the TV programme “Wirtschaft vor acht” on the first German television channel ARD. Every weekday, she reports on current events in the economy and stock market for a wide audience. She is also the business and stock market correspondent for the “Tagesthemen” programme.

From 1997 to 2000, Anja Kohl worked for the financial portal “Bloomberg TV” in London and for the news channel “n-tv” in Berlin.
At “n-tv”, Anja Kohl hosted the programme “Märkte am Morgen” and “Gründer TV” and was responsible for the “Telebörse” as head of service.
In 2000, she moved to the “Wiso” editorial team at ZDF. There she was editor in charge and presenter of the “Wiso Geldtipp” programme.
From 2003 to 2006, Anja Kohl reported from the trading floor in German and English for the domestic and international programmes of “Deutsche Welle TV”.
She has been a freelance presenter and editor for ARD (Hessischer Rundfunk) since 2001.

In 2017, Anja Kohl moderated the G20 summit on the topic of “Financial Inclusion”. She regularly contributes to various events on the topics of sustainability, economic change and the Ukraine war.
Thanks to her high profile, Anja Kohl is also a welcome guest on information programmes and guest on information programmes and talk shows such as “Hart aber
fair”, “Anne Will”, “Günther Jauch”, “Maischberger” or the “NDR-Talkshow”.
She has also made guest appearances in the television film “Frau Böhm sagt Nein” with Senta Berger, which focussed on the Mannesmann affair, and in humorous ARD formats such as the “Kurt-Krömer-Show” and “Dittsche-das wahre Leben”.

In 2006, Anja Kohl was voted one of the “101 Journalists of the Year” (by the “medium – magazine for journalists”). In 2008, she was awarded the “Journalist Prize of the German Mittelstand” by the publishing group “markt intern”.

Anja Kohl was born in Bavaria, in Aschaffenburg in Lower Franconia.
She studied German, journalism and political science at the universities of Bamberg and Mainz.
She spent a year studying journalism at Towson State University in Baltimore.
During her time in the US, she worked for various US radio and television stations.
Anja Kohl is a volunteer on the board of trustees of the children’s aid organisation “World Vision” and is an ambassador for the Spessart Nature Park.
