- Mannheim-based software company now establishes fifth branch in the capital city
- Requirements for sustainability reporting by companies are increasing rapidly in view of increasing legal requirements
- The number of employees in Berlin is set to grow to at least 30 by the end of 2024
The Mannheim-based software company osapiens now has a new location in Berlin. Since it was founded in 2018, the provider of B2B software solutions for creating transparent and sustainable supply chains has been operating from its headquarters in Mannheim, Cologne, Madrid and Ingolstadt and now employs around 200 people from more than 40 countries. In a prime location in Berlin’s Kreuzberg district, directly on Paul-Lincke-Ufer, osapiens has now opened its almost 200 square meter office, which will primarily house the Sales and Business Development departments.
The new presence in Berlin signals the further growth of osapiens in Europe and the strategic importance of the city as an international hub. In order to provide comprehensive support for the rapidly growing European customer base, the number of employees in Berlin is set to rise to at least 30 by the end of next year.
“We see a growing need for software solutions to implement increasing human rights and environmental standards in global supply chains”, said Alberto Zamora, CEO and co-founder of osapiens. “In Germany, the Supply Chain Act (LkSG) has been in force since the beginning of the year, which obliges companies to comply with their due diligence obligations to avoid human rights violations and protect the environment. In 2024, the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) will once again significantly expand the scope and type of sustainability reporting by companies at European level – an enormous challenge for the companies concerned, which must prepare themselves with the appropriate digital solutions.”
In Germany alone, around 15,000 companies will be affected by the CSRD and will have to collect data and information in order to comply with their reporting obligations. The legislative process at EU level to adopt the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) is also well advanced and will set a new standard in sustainability reporting when it is transposed into German law. All of these EU directives require fast and automated processing of large volumes of data. The digitalization of these processes using suitable software will play a central role and point the way to a legally compliant future at national and international level.
“Our location in Berlin will be a central meeting point for the team, a place from which we can continue to grow and which enables us to maintain personal contact with our European and international customers”, said Marc Erfkamp, Head of Business Development & Location Manager Berlin at osapiens. “Berlin is not only internationally significant, but is still the number one start-up hotspot in Germany – an important multicultural talent pool that we want to inspire with our mission for human rights and ecologically sustainable and responsible corporate governance.”
osapiens was founded in 2018 by software and SAP experts Alberto Zamora, Stefan Wawrzinek and Matthias Jungblut with the aim of digitizing supply chains and thus making them more transparent, efficient and sustainable. The overarching goal is not only to strengthen companies economically, but also to support them on their path to greater sustainability. For its mission and software solutions, osapiens was awarded the prestigious German Start-up Award in the ‘Rising Star’ category last year.
