What is TRACES NT?
TRACES NT (Trade Control and Expert System – New Technology) is used across the EU for:
- Registering businesses involved in animal, plant, or food product trade
- Submitting and tracking EUDR compliance documents
- Managing official certificates and due diligence statements
For businesses affected by EUDR, TRACES NT is your gateway to proving compliance. Understanding the system early can save time, reduce errors, and ensure your products meet EU regulations.
Ensure compliance and avoid regulatory risks
Many businesses struggle with TRACES NT registration and compliance. Small errors can lead to delays, fines, or even blocked shipments. Our manual helps you avoid the most frequent pitfalls.
If you want to avoid having to log every single transaction manually in the TRACES NT interface, software can help you automate reporting. The osapiens HUB can automatically submit your DDS after your data collection and risk analysis were successful. Enterprise-grade setup means you can submit your DDS for yourself as a standalone entity, or build more sophisticated setups for groups of companies.
Ensure compliance
Avoid the following pitfalls:
- Incomplete registration: Missing or incorrect company information can prevent access to TRACES NT.
- Incorrect due diligence submissions: Errors in supply chain data can trigger audits or penalties.
- Misunderstanding deadlines: Failing to submit on time can cause compliance breaches.
- Confusing system navigation: TRACES NT can be complex without step-by-step guidance.
- Wrong operator type: Choosing the wrong operator type might mean you later have to clean up your setup with the TRACES NT support team, potentially slowing down your compliance efforts.

TRACES NT - Frequently asked questions
There's no single company-wide traces number. Once you're registered, you receive a Due Diligence Statement reference number for each submission, or a simplified declaration identifier if you're a micro or small primary operator.
Registration now depends on your role. Operators register to submit a Due Diligence Statement (DDS). Micro or small primary operators register to submit a one-time simplified declaration instead. Non-SME downstream operators and traders register but don't need to submit DDS themselves.
Before placing EUDR relevant products on the EU market, companies must obtain TRACES credentials and ensure full EUDR compliance.
You can request your TRACES credentials via the official EU Login Portal. Note that TRACES Acceptance and TRACES Production require separate registrations.
TRACES is the EU's EUDR Information System, used by EUDR affected companies. It serves as the central portal where all affected market participants register, submit Due Diligence Statements and verify existing reference numbers. TRACES reopened on June 30, 2026, after technical updates.
EUDR stands for EU Deforestation Regulation. It’s an EU regulation that requires companies to prove certain products (like coffee, cocoa, soy, wood, palm oil, cattle and rubber) are deforestation-free, legally produced, and fully traceable before they can be placed on the EU market.
You can log into your TRACES Acceptance account via the official login page, and your TRACES Production account via the official login page.
Logging into your TRACES account will enable you to submit and verify EUDR Due Diligence Statements as part of your EUDR compliance process.
